The Kirtland Central Lady Broncos golf team secured a second-place finish at the 2025 NMAA 4A State Golf Tournament in Farmington, New Mexico. The team posted a total score of 710 over two rounds, with scores of 345 on the first day and 365 on the second. This is the second consecutive year they have finished as state runner-up.

Freshman Hayden Dan led the Lady Broncos by finishing as the individual runner-up, scoring a total of 149 with rounds of 74 and 75. Hayden described her performance as exceeding her expectations and considered it a “big stepping stone” for her career. Despite some challenges with putting, she managed to save par with a chip-in on the back nine. Looking ahead, Hayden aims to improve her mental game and believes a state title is “in the cards” for her future.

Her sister, Dallas Dan, who serves as team captain, finished seventh individually with a score of 167 (78-89). Dallas noted making a birdie on hole 13 during the second day but faced challenges due to wind conditions. She expressed gratitude towards her teammates and coaches Judith Kamacha, Coach Valdez, and Coach Manning for their support.

Other notable performances from the Lady Broncos included Makayla Manus finishing tenth with scores of 83 and 90 for a total of 173. Haylee Nocki placed forty-first with scores of 110 and 111 for a total of 221.

On the boys’ side, Zachary Blueeyes was Kirtland Central’s top finisher in sixth place individually. He posted scores of 75 and 77 for a total of 152. Reflecting on his final high school tournament, Zachary emphasized maintaining composure despite late-round struggles. He plans to continue playing golf at a Military Institute before potentially transferring to another university.

The Kirtland Central boys’ team finished eighth overall with a total score of 737 (360-377). Other competitors included Samuel Hawkins (43rd), Taylor Roundy (45th), and Ethan Billey (46th).
