San Juan College issued the following announcement on Aug. 14.
Think you missed out on getting a scholarship to attend college? Think Again! The New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship Program has funding to help students with tuition and fees this fall.
The New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship will pay tuition and fees for eligible students. Students must be 18 years or older or eligible for a New Mexico Lottery Scholarship. They must be enrolled in a 2-year academic program (or less) – this includes credit bearing certificates of 2 years or less; be enrolled for 12 credit hours or more; be a New Mexico resident and have unmet need. Students may also be eligible for other types of financial aid. The San Juan College Financial Aid Office will assist students with the FAFSA to see what other types of aid are available in addition to the New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship.
“We are so excited about this New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship Program,” exclaims Mindi Schrum, Senior Director of Financial Aid. “We can assist more students who want to start college or change their career. This funding can make a huge difference for students.”

Potential students must complete the 2020-2021 FAFSA in order to qualify for the New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship, and they must provide an official academic high school transcript or GED transcript.
