San Juan College issued the following announcement on Aug. 17.
Rawlinson comes to San Juan College from Dallas College - Cedar Valley where he has served as the Executive Dean of the Math, Science, Allied Health, and STEM Division since 2014. Prior to his tenure at Cedar Valley College, he served as the Executive Dean of the Arts and Sciences Division at El Centro College in Dallas, Texas as well as the Associate Instructional Dean and Art Gallery Director. His teaching experience began with an adjunct teaching assignment in Art and included a full-time teaching appointment, also in Art, at Tarrant County College. Prior to his academic career, Rawlinson was a Senior Planning Engineer in the aerospace industry.
Rawlinson holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Texas Christian University where he focused on painting and print-making.
“The School of Business and Information technology will continue to grow under the leadership of Mr. Rawlinson,” says Dr. Adrienne Forgette, vice president for Learning. “He has breadth of experience in the leadership of faculty and programs.”
Rawlinson was instrumental in beginning an internship program at Cedar Valley College where he formed partnerships with other educational institutions as well as business and industry. He led the ALEKS Math initiative and remodeling projects in Math and Veterinary Technology. He also served on a variety of committees and projects for the Dallas County Community College District.
“I am excited to be joining and serving the Faculty and Staff of the School of Business and Information Technology as well as San Juan College and the community at large to continue to build on and expand educational and career opportunities for all in the Four Corners area of New Mexico and beyond,” says Rawlinson.
In this role, Rawlinson will provide leadership to the School of Business and Information Technology, as well as other programs.
Rawlinson has one son, Ethan, who lives and works in Fort Worth, Texas. He enjoys not only painting but has recently begun learning to play the guitar.
