From January 22, 2023 post.

The San Juan County Regional Officer Involved Shooting Task Force is investigating an officer involved shooting involving the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 21, 2023, at approximately 5am, a San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a pursuit in the area of Murray Boulevard and South Butler in Farmington New Mexico. The pursuit initially began after a deputy attempted to stop the vehicle for failure to have headlights.

Deputies located the vehicle a short time later and attempted to contact the driver, at which time the driver reversed their vehicle striking the stopped police vehicle. The deputy fired once at the vehicle. The suspect fled again but came to a stop when police vehicles blocked their escape. The suspect was taken into custody after a felony stop. There were no injuries. The investigation is being led by Farmington Police Department as part of the San Juan County Regional Officer Involved Shooting Task Force. This is an ongoing investigation and more details will be released as they become available.
