Certificate of Exception Service | San Juan County Sheriff's Office, NM
From February 13, 2023 post.
On January 13, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office held our annual awards banquet where we celebrate the great work of our staff. Over the course of a few weeks, we will highlight some of these awards and the staff that earned them.
Today we are recognizing Corporal Michael Carey for receiving the Certificate of Exception Service. The Certificate of Exceptional Service may be presented to any member who consistently performs their assigned duties in an exemplary manner.
Corporal Carey has shown exemplary leadership and initiative as an Assistant Team Leader for the San Juan County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team. During a period of leadership transition, Corporal Carey has been instrumental in maintaining the continuity of the team, while helping a new Team Leader grow into his role. Corporal Carey has taken responsibility for a large part of training events and has balanced the personalities of new team members as well as the more seasoned deputies on the team.
Corporal Carey's experience and composure while operating in critical incidents instills confidence in the other deputies who are on scene, and the incident commander can take relief in knowing that the operational duties will be handled in an expert manner. Corporal Carey should be commended for his leadership and dedication to the mission of the San Juan County Sheriff's Office.
