Have you been wondering what our Girls with G.R.I.T. have been up to? On October 18, our very own Captain Burns and Sergeant Goins, the previous and current Region II Narcotics Directors, talked with all the ladies about the drug problem in our area. Thank you SO much to Firehouse Subs for donating meals for our staff and students this evening! You are always a strong supporter of our program and we greatly appreciate it.
On October 25 the ladies learned about our local 911/dispatch center and active threat situations, which are most often active shooters. They learned how knowledgeable, understanding, and efficient our 911 dispatchers and call takers are and what they, as citizens, should expect and be prepared with when calling in an emergency. For the active threat portion, the Detective Headley went over history, but most importantly, taught them what to expect in an active threat situation. Even though it’s impossible to cover every situation, the ladies were given tips for surviving and what to expect when law enforcement arrives.
