Our readers may recognize the name Terry Joplin. He has appeared on our social media pages more than once. The last time with this collage of booking photos. In March of 2021, San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Joplin, charging him with two counts of Receiving or Transferring Stolen Motor Vehicles, three counts of Receiving Stolen Property, one count of Possession of Burglary Tools, one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, one count of Tampering with Evidence, and one count of Trafficking Controlled Substances. On October 31, 2022, Joplin pled guilty to the last two charges (one count of Tampering with Evidence, and one count of Trafficking Controlled Substances.)
Beginning in 1994, Joplin has been arrested in San Juan County at least 37 times. Due to his extensive criminal history, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office asked Judge Marsh to give Joplin a maximum sentence. We would like to thank the judge for doing just that and sentencing Terry Joplin to 20 years in prison and two years of parole following his prison sentence.
We would also like to thank the prosecutors for doing a great job staying on top of this case and helping our agency keep this criminal off the streets.
