We enjoy getting to meet so many new people who have recently moved to Carlsbad because of all of the opportunities here. Recently, we had a visit from Jerrod Inskeep, who is the environmental manager of Wescom. Wescom is described as an industrial electrical, automation, instrumental, environmental and mechanical contractor. Locally, Wescom has offices set up off of Standpipe Road. The company has hired locally, but has also brought in many new employees.

Inskeep told us he is looking for ways to be involved in the community, and wants to help in any way. He also brought a wonderful gift – a special printing of the Flume- that we now have hanging up at City Hall. Wescom’s arrival in Carlsbad is another great example that our economy is doing very well, and that the oil and gas industry is drawing in some excellent people. We look forward to working with Jerrod in the future, and we thank him for the beautiful gift. We’ve had many other similar visits with companies who have recently decided to invest or expand in Carlsbad, but who have also contacted us about looking for ways to assist.

Our energy summit is scheduled for Oct. 19, and we look forward to learning from individuals such as Jerrod about what the future has to offer. We hope you’ll plan to join us as well.

Our Hall of Fame induction for Gary Tucker is now scheduled for 11 a.m. July 28 at the Carlsbad Museum. Throughout his career, Tucker won numerous rodeo titles, including the National Finals in 1966, the Bareback World Championship in 1969 and Cheyenne Pioneer Days in 1970. His incredible accomplishments in rodeo really put Carlsbad on the map. We hope you’ll join us and Tucker’s family at this special induction ceremony.

Sincerely,

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway
