Our cadets are in the home stretch and getting close to graduation next month! One of their weeks in the academy consisted of crime scene investigation training. They covered an array of topics ranging from collecting fingerprints/DNA, evidence, documenting shoe and tire impressions, what happens to a body postmortem, photographing crime scenes and vehicles, vehicle evidence collection & processing, viewing samples of real crime scenes, then processing mock crime scenes themselves.
Collecting evidence is not only important for solving a case, but ensuring that the integrity of the evidence is enough to hold up in court for a conviction of a crime.
