On Saturday, June 29, 2024, twenty students from the Central Consolidated School District (CCSD), ranging from grades 6-12, traveled to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. This marks the second year of collaboration between the CCSD Gifted, Talented, and Creative Program and the Purdue University HOPE+SIM Partnership. The partnership provides scholarships for CCSD's gifted and talented students to attend the Purdue University Gifted Education Research and Resource Institute (GER2I) Summer Residential Camp.

This year's participants hailed from Newcomb, Shiprock, and Kirtland middle and high schools. During the two-week residential camp, these students engaged with peers from across the country and around the world. They experienced college life by staying in campus dormitories and took part in challenging courses such as Leadership, Neuroscience, Game Theory, Engineering, Robotics, Quantum Computing, among others.

The Central Consolidated School District expressed enthusiasm about sending its talented students to this prestigious camp at Purdue University.

The district highlighted its position as one of the top educational districts in the region. This achievement is attributed to an exceptional faculty and revamped programs tailored for gifted students in grades K-12. A notable partnership with Arizona State University (ASU) has been established to provide elementary and middle school students access to ASU Digital Prep Global for accelerated learning. Additionally, high school students have opportunities to enroll in dual credit courses.
