On July 28, 2022 first responders conducted a water rescue on a river access road between La Puente and Plaza Blanca. With the help of Fire Chief BJ Samora of Chama Fire Department and his crew, Deputies Johnathan Coriz, Cedric Patterson, New Mexico State Police Officers Ronnie Carrillo, David Gil. The driver and his K-9 were taken to safety.
