Reserve Deputy of the Year | San Juan County Sheriff's Office, NM
From March 8, 2023 post.
On January 13, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office held our annual awards banquet where we celebrate the great work of our staff. Over the course of a few weeks, we will highlight some of these awards and the staff that earned them.
Today we are recognizing the Reserve Deputy of the year. The Manuel Dan Reserve Deputy of the Year award is a very special honor because it comes directly from the nominations of the deputies themselves. This year it was awarded to late Reserve Deputy Jeff Manning. Reserve Deputy Manning unexpectedly passed away last year, but his family was able to attend the awards banquet to accept his award and honor his service to the Sheriff’s Office.
Reserve Deputy Jeff Manning joined the Sheriff’s Office Reserve Program in June of 2016. Whether he was working special events or helping on patrol, he was willing to donate his free time to the community we serve while displaying our badge with obvious pride. Reserve Deputy Manning was trusted by the deputies he worked with, and they knew that he would be there with officer safety as his first priority. His devotion to the community and dedication to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office were true examples of the values sought after in our Reserve program.
