From March 7, 2023 post.
Do you ever wonder how many visitors national parks see every year? Well, wonder no more! The newly released National Park Service 2022 Visitation Report shows visitation to America’s national parks totaled 311,985,998! That's 15 million more than last year and about 15 million less than in 2019. The report also demonstrates subtle shifts in visitation patterns after two years of efforts to bolster visitation at lesser-known parks and at times of the year when parks historically saw fewer visitors. Check out the info-graphics for more details and cool facts!
Aztec Ruins National Monument received 50,396 visitors last year, ranking 272nd out of parks that report. This year's visitation at Aztec Ruins is about 9,000 more than ten years ago and about 8,000 more than twenty years ago! Can you guess what the most visited park in the National Park System was in 2022?
Annual reports like these are significant for many reasons, but especially to remind us all of the importance of #LeaveNoTrace. With millions of visitors each year to national parks, it's essential for everyone to dispose of trash properly, respect wildlife, leave what you find, and be considerate of the people and environment around you. Thank you for supporting the parks!
