Across the country, volunteer firefighters provide vital service to their communities; San Juan County is no different. But don't think that volunteer staff means less service. Our membership attends a rigorous 17-week fire academy that provides them with international certifications when they complete. Our EMS providers meet similar national standards after they complete their training. Volunteers save the tax payers of San Juan County over $10 million annually while still providing excellent service.
