From January 26, 2023 post.

Case Update:

Mykelti Brown took a plea deal, pleading guilty to Second Degree Murder, a second-degree felony. She has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and then will be required to be under parole supervision for two years upon release. We would like to thank our deputies and detectives for the great work they did securing strong evidence in this case. We would also like to thank the DA and Judge Townsend for prosecuting this violent offender and giving her the maximum sentence for the crime.

Mykelti Brown, 22 has been arrested in connection with the death of her brother, 31-year-old Levi Loma. San Juan County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched in the early morning hours of October 24 to a residence on CR 33191 at 1:49am in reference to a stabbing.

Deputies arrived on scene to find Loma being tended to for an apparent stab wound. Brown was being restrained by another family member. Deputies were quickly able to identify Mykelti Brown as the suspect and placed her in handcuffs. Medics were called and Loma was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. While rendering aid, Brown escaped and fled on foot. She was later located a short distance away and taken into custody for questioning. Brown was booked into the San Juan County Detention Center on previous warrants of Battery on a Peace Officer and Resisting Arrest. She is currently being charged for murder in the 1st degree (open charge).
