From January 30, 2023 post.
On January 13, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office held our annual awards banquet where we celebrate the great work of our staff. Over the course of a few weeks, we will highlight some of these awards and the staff that earned them.
Today we are recognizing Andrea Todecheenie for earning the Exceptional Service Award. This award is presented to non-sworn members of the Sheriff’s Office who, during the course of their official duties, provide a service that is carried out in a superior manner.
Many don't realize there are two professional staff positions assigned to the Civil Office; Andrea has on many occasions, had to cover both positions for extended periods of time. This put an exorbitant amount of stress on Andrea as both positions are difficult to manage when left to do it by yourself. In addition to covering duties, Andrea was tasked with training her counterpart’s replacement upon her retirement. This consisted of training two different people over the course of several months, which can be a difficult position to train on as it is something different every day.
Through all of this, Andrea did it with professionalism and without complaint. Because of her hard work behind the scenes, the state mandated duties of the Civil Division were carried out flawlessly with service to citizens being unaffected. Her hard work also made life easier for the Civil Division deputies and supervisors. Thank you Andrea!
